About the event
The native grass forage tour will highlight the value that warm season native grasses can provide for pasture and for hay. We will visit two farms including Kentucky Bison, where we will see bison grazing eastern gamagrass. We will also discuss the benefits of this high quality native grass for cattle production. The second property will show the potential of native grasses for hay production. At this location we will also highlight recent research from the University of Kentucky on switchgrass hay quality and feeding growing cattle. We will also discuss alternative uses for mature switchgrass like dairy bedding and fuel.
